Well, I finally got the ultrasound that everyone has been asking me about. January 2nd at 9:00 A.M. we found out that we are having a...

Baby's Profile
GIRL! So I guess Viola will have a playmate close to her age like the older girls are to each other. We ARE excited and it really makes things convenient for me, because I definitely have girl stuff! Adam says we are just specializing.

Baby's Face, mouth is open, cute little chin to the right
I'm still tempted to paint the old office a light green... I could stick up pink and purple decor to make it a girl room if I have to, right?
Otherwise the ultrasound said I was right on, the baby isn't big which happens a lot with diabetic mothers. I must say these 4 girl pregnancies I've had have been quite easy so I shouldn't complain at all. These first 24 weeks have been great and we'll hope for a healthy baby at 39 weeks!
Well since Heather is still in the hospital with our newest addition, I'm the one that gets to give everyone the big news. We had our baby, and it was a girl. We named her Clara Jane. She was 9 pounds 6.5 ounces and 20 and 3/4 inches long.
She and Heather are doing quite well. This c-section was so much different from our other children! Normally they are delivered, the doctor holds them up for 2 seconds, says congratulations, and they run them off to put them on oxygen, pump them full of sugar, stab them a thousand times to check their blood sugar, and try a million and one places to put an IV in that they won't pull out.
However, today was the complete opposite. She came out screaming pretty well. They did the basic tests and then just casually brought her over and said that I could hold her until we were ready to move out of surgery. Her blood sugar was a little on the low side, which we have come to expect with our babies, but it picked up after we got a little food in her tummy (It is still just a tad low for "normal" kids (60s instead of 70s), but we were absolutely fine with the levels compared to what we went through with the others).
Heather should be out of the hospital with Clara by Saturday. Thank you to everyone for their prayers during the pregnancy.

Hello everyone, I can't believe a month has passed since Clara was born. Erith and Tricity have had their end of the school year parties and programs, and T-Ball practice starts this week. Summer is here! Now if we could just have more than one day of sunshine at a time...
I have been inside with the baby watching the rain and actually longing to do some gardening and yard work! Clara is growing up so fast. She likes to use her neck even though she probably shouldn't. She is awake more. She's very alert and loves being entertained by her sisters.
Viola is very interested and protective of her. When she cries she gets Adam or I and says "Mon! Mon! Baby!" as she pulls on our hand.
Erith has become my second set of hands, bless her heart. I am usually taking care of Clara when Vi needs assistance, so Erith helps, like a second Mom. I sometimes have to remind her that I am still THE Mom though!
Erith may be the baby/toddler tender but Tricity is my cleaner. It's amazing how messy a house gets with four kids, and Tric is my quick to obey house cleaner, yeah for her!
I really love my girls, and wouldn't trade a one of them. They have a sweetness and a goodness that they were born with that has nothing to do with me. Even when I'm tired and grouchy they still love me and forgive me and want to be by my side. I have noticed Erith hanging out with me A LOT lately. She is constantly watching and mimicking me. I definitely need to watch my words and attitude. It's embarrassing to see some of my episodes repeated!
Well, we are glad to have water again (read Adam's explanation on that) and wish you all a Happy Memorial Day!
(There are a bunch of new pictures of the baby and the other kids in the Image Gallery under Kids 2008 , check them out!)
We're going to have a BABY!!!
I am pregnant and excited for baby number four!
I'm due April 29th so I'm 3 months along now or 14 weeks tomorrow. (October 30th)
The girls really think it's a boy...again... but it seems like the more we're sure it's a boy the less likely it is to happen, SO we will be happy to have either!
I guess it gives us more reason to get the new office done too, we could really use that bedroom!
Well, we're excited and we hope you all will be excited with us!

As soon as we told the girls the news, Erith immediately drew this picture of... our new baby!
(It is just so hard not to get your hopes up!)
Clara is growing up so fast lately. She has 2 bottom teeth, she crawls, she says Dadda a lot, she can open the doors on our entertainment center and pull all the stuff out, she is using a spoon a little bit on her own, she jabbers, gets into whatever is left on the floor or couch and last but not least puts her hand into the 5 gallon bucket of catfood and eats a few each day.
Poor Tric, she has a kind of morning routine of doing a puzzle or two first thing in the morning. She started out with 24 piece puzzles, now she does 50 and 100 piece puzzles. But she has to be quick, as soon as Clara gets out of her crib, not even an open package of chips on the floor will keep her from those puzzles.
Vi is now a big sister who doesn't like her little sister getting into her "stuff". She won't call Clara by her name, she calls her "Baby". She constantly runs up to me and says "Oh no Mom, Baby touching it". Vi likes to draw and color and tends to leave her coloring pages and crayons (or writing utensils) on the kitchen floor, so naturally Clara usually has a pencil or pen in her mouth.
The other day I left Vi with a coloring book and some crayons while I went to pick up Erith and Tricity from piano lessons. (Adam works from home, so I don't leave them alone) When I walked in Vi was looking nervous and said "Baby did it" it took me a minute to see that our TV was covered in crayon scribbling and Clara was on the floor holding a crayon. Clara can't put herself to standing quite yet and even if she could, her arm couldn't reach the top of the TV where there was plentiful scribbling. It was so funny to me. She really thought she'd framed Clara beyond a doubt. (You can see why I'm hesitant to put in an LCD TV in there)
Yesterday Vi was being quiet, almost all day long... She is really into this art thing lately. She got into Clara's dry formula and was making sand drawings all over the kitchen countertops one of the times. The other time she was making lotion fingerpaintings all over a green plastic storage tub in her bedroom. Gotta love age 2. We always call Viola Vi, so today I told her that her whole name was Viola Pearl Hayes. She said "No mom, I'n not Viowa Pol, I'n Vi" She talks so well now, it's cute.
For those of you who don't know, Viola is my Grandma Quinn's Mom's name and Clara is my Grandpa Quinn's Mom's name. They really have a connection with each other. They get each other laughing all the time. Vi does something silly like hits herself on the head with a flyswatter and gets Clara laughing then that make Vi laugh. Some toys that Vi refuses to share with the older kids she happily shares with Clara. They even share my lap pretty well now. They used to try to push the other off. I'm hoping they'll be best friends forever.
Well I think the nesting instinct has kicked in. I want things ready for the baby. My c-section is scheduled for April 23rd, so I can at least say I'm having the baby next month! I just started ripping the not-so-cute wallpaper off in the old office one day and then, I caught the bug and wouldn't leave it alone until it was done.
I have learned that the old owners of this house always have an ugly secret under any wallpaper I've ripped off. The basement family room had one wall that the wallpaper was glued directly onto the Sheetrock. Luckily it wasn't that severe a case in this room. But still, the walls were VERY ugly underneath. Holes galore, rips to the Sheetrock, mold, and more. They tried to get off an ugly floral wallpaper and beat up the wallls doing it, then gave up and left a little on, then covered it all with the brown wallpaper. I don't have a picture of the before sadly.
But lucky you get to see how glamorous I look when I work! The picture part of the wallpaper comes off in no time. But the glued on under part takes a lot of wallpaper stripper and scraping.
I painted the room light green, I know I'm pregnant, but painting the family room red when I was pregnant with Vi doesn't seem to have ruined her.

The carpet is yet to come but I'm glad to have the walls looking healthy again. I re-textured them a little because of all the holes and rips. I'm quite pleased with the outcome. It was fun working with my girls. They really liked ripping wallpaper and painting.
Have you ever needed a break from partying? That's how December was for me. Don't get me wrong, I loved getting together with family and friends, eating delicious food and playing games, catching up. But boy is it nice to sleep in and let the kids make messes again! Speaking of messes, as you can see, Clara had a spectactular Christmas morning.
Our List of Parties:
Adam's birthday
Ward Christmas party
Elder's dinner party
Christmas eve
Christmas day
Erith's birthday, this was her first non family birthday party. I can't believe I have an eight year old! I'm so old!
New Year's eve
New Year's day
Erith's baptism
Dolls, dolls, dolls. We entered the world of Target made "American dolls" this Christmas. Tricity paid half to get one earlier this year. She got a canopy bed for Sophie. Erith got MaryLynn, and Vi got Jenna, whom is 18" tall but not from Target. Clara got a baby doll that can drink and wet (and 2 potty books).
The girls got up at 6:30 am even after Adam they could get up as early as they want. (grrrr) Vi and Clara don't cope with being woken up early very well.
I bought these little baby crib and high chair for Clara, they aren't very sturdy, I won't go the cheap route next time.
I somehow got the most spoiled this Christmas. I don't think Santa or Adam stuck to the budget.
Adam got lots of painting stuff and a remote control helicopter.
I gave the girls my old tea set so they could use it with their dolls. One tea cup was immediately broken, I can see why everything is made of plastic these days.
I have to say, seeing the excitement in little kids' eyes sure makes Christmas morning magical!
Our girls were so excited when I bought a Slip'nSlide that they invited a bunch of family over for a water party.
Viola surprised us by potty training herself this week, so this is her first time swimming without a swimming diaper. She'll be two next week.
What would a water party be without hotdogs and Adam in his grilling apron?
We had otterpops and splashed it up to stay cool in the hot sun.
The slip'nslide said for kids only, but what fun is that? Yes, that person is me, Heather.
I just had a baby remember, I've got some baby fat to lose!
Here are some skinnier splash kings and queens.
Kami and Josh
Tricity and Sarah
Some just came to chat and laugh at the rest of us. Jaleesa was there, how did she escape the camera...
Erith was being a prim little princess and didn't want to hit the water with her face very badly.
Clara had a trick up her sleeve that day too. She rolled over from tummy to back about 6 times! Loa got a video of it, I will try to get it from her and post it soon. She will be two months next week. She is very active and alert and determined to grow up on me.
Hope you all are keeping it cool!
I am sorry I haven't been up to writing lately, but Baby Clara is worth every minute!
She is absolutely beautiful! I have to say that even though I've had 4 girls now, each one is unique and I fall in love with each one each time. Clara is great baby, very easy to fall in love with. She's a good eater, a good sleeper, doesn't puke much, and has a happy disposition.
Her big sisters are great helpers. They entertain her a lot, and she loves every minute of it, even if Vi is a little rough! Speaking of Vi, she has had the hardest time. She does all kinds of aggravating things to get some attention. Most of them happen in the bathroom and involve toilet paper. She seems to be getting better as the days go by though.
I wouldn't trade Clara for a hundred boys, she is an angel and I love her! Our family feels more complete and we all love each other all the more. I couldn't be any happier!
Where have I been the last month? Well, I have been canning like crazy, and I've read all NINE Work and the Glory books. It's amazing how into them I got. I pretty much forgot that I had a blog, e-mail, a life... Volleyball season is in full swing and so Adam goes to as many of those games as he can.
Erith and Tricity have started piano lessons and they seem to be doing quite well.
Adam has been building a new swingset/playtoy thing that we are pretty excited about. I was just going to buy a kit and have him put it together, but he convinced me to let him design it himself. It's about 2/3rds done now. We've had the money to do it set aside since Spring but he hasn't had time to do it till now. If any of you haven't noticed, (haha) the economy is amazingly slow right now, so he has some time.
Erith and Tric had a nice stick fight a couple weeks ago and Tric got hit one inch from her eye with a big stick. It was very ugly and Tric got tired of answering all the questions about it. My mom gave us some magic bruise cream and it worked wonders on her black eye, thank goodness!
Vi is talking really well the last month. She starts each day saying "Dora, Boots, Peese Mom" and ending each day the exact same way. We have one Dora movie and I really think I could quote it from memory.
Clara is eating some baby cereal and other baby foods now, it seems to be helping her unquenchable hunger, yay! She has turned into quite the Mommy's girl lately. I'm flattered that she loves me so much, but wow, is it ever hard to get things done around here one handed.
We are doing quite well and we hope you all are doing well despite our economy.
Where have I been the past few months? Well, this is Idaho, and it is winter, so believe it or not, I've been cooped up in the house. Reading books, watching old movies, and for the past couple weeks exercising!
I have a goal to lose at least 30 pounds this year. I've joined a group of ladies in my ward who walk 3 miles every morning (5 days a week, M-F) and lift weights immediately after on Tuesday and Thursday (our whole stake is invited to that). I hope going from nothing to this will be a big improvement. It has already helped my mood a ton. January always makes me so stir-crazy. I'm usually broke after Christmas, thus I don't leave the house much. I feel like everyday is the same, and there is nothing to look forward to, and I just get down and sad/grouchy. So I am LOVING the happier mind-set exercise gives me, and I'm sure my family is too.
We are going to do a complete overhaul on our upstairs bathroom when we get our tax return back. (Since we incorporated in 2008 we had to pay 90% of Adam and Heather Hayes' AHFX 2007 earned income AND AH Digital FX Studios Inc., so this years return should be a good one)
Our bathroom is straight out of the 70's from baby blue sink, toilet, and tub to the blue plaid carpet. Yeah, gross, I know. So all new everything, even cabinetry. Yes, the carpet is going, it will be replaced with: most likely tile. Post on the comment section the likes and dislikes of all your flooring and counter tops. We are leaning towards tile floors and granite counter tops. (Is tile to hard and cold on your feet and does granite show too many splatters and fingerprints?) We will do before and after pictures of it.
We'll be adding more toys to our swingset, and hopefully... laying some cement for a basketball/volleyball court. It should be a fun, busy year!
If you're wondering if we have a lot of parties at our house, this months representation should tell you!
Adam's friend from high school Clifton Koon and his wife Bree and their son and twin baby girls came to his parents' for Thanksgiving so the day after we had a party with all the gang at our house.
Adam's other friend Nate and his wife Shannon were pregnant with twins, and they came to the party Friday, and went into labor and had their babies Saturday!
Dan and Darcy don't have any babies yet but boy do Clif's babies look good in their arms!
Clara is officially one now. I can't believe my newborn fresh from the hospital baby is one already.
She is jabbering and screaming a lot now, no quiet time here anymore. She's taking a step or two but no serious walking yet.
She is so cute and curious. She can climb out of her high chair onto the tray, and climb completely out of her walker. She loves climbing from the recliner to the piano bench and lately, standing on the keys! Trouble!
Clara opened Tric's gift early right after an ug Mom got back from walking and lifting weights. They were cute socks Tric bought from the dollar store with her own money. We waited till our late cake and ice cream party to open the rest. We had an extended party the next day with the Purser side.
Hi friends and family! Welcome to our blog! We realized how convenient it is to put pictures, videos, and pertinent information on the web so we can show and explain things (Our road trip this summer inspired it) without bringing laptops, cds, dvds, scrapbooks and etc. along with us everywhere.
For those of you who don't see us often, I will quickly bring you up to speed on who and where we are.
Adam is running his own business from our home, AH Digital FX Studios . He does web design and hosting. The wonderful thing about that is he can work from anywhere, even Ririe Idaho. He was in charge of his 10 year high school reunion last Saturday, it was a blast. (That also gives you a clue on how old he is!) He is the BYU Idaho 7th Stake Clerk, that takes up a lot of Sunday morning time but he loves it and he can make it back for 1:00 church with me so I really don't mind it either! He is enjoying swinging a bat this summer whether it's softball, baseball, wiffleball he's in the middle of it. Our business is doing well. In fact we are about to close in our 1 car garage and make it the office so there is an outdoor access and more room. In order to do that we needed a shed/shop to store all the stuff in the garage now, so we are looking at the foundation in the backyard and hoping it will be mostly done next week.
I (Heather) am in the middle of yard and garden work. Picking and canning green beans, finding new ways to convince my family to eat zucchini, watering my 1 acre yard by hose and sprinkler, keeping Baby Vi out of every cupboard, and primary presidency stuff. It's an exciting, but busy time of year. I LOVE harvest season. All the hard work in the garden is paying off. Getting Erith and Tricity ready for kindergarten and preschool is fun. The summer has been so busy, I'm excited to get a break once school starts!
Erith is 5 years old, she will turn 6 in December . She played T-Ball this summer and had a playdate with her best friend once a week. She LOVES to learn just like her Dad. She is excited to start kindergarten Aug 20th where Adam's aunt will be her teacher. She has been learning to read words one at a time when we have family scripture study. She's up to 30 and can sound out as many or more.
Tricity is 4 and very smiley. She went to a private preschool last school year twice a week and will get to go 3 times a week this year! She loves to play with her big sister Erith. They are inseparable and imaginative. Yesterday they were making people out of clay and using story books for their tents. (Propping them on their covers /\ I liked it!) She can read about 10 words.
Viola is 1 and walking (ahhh!) She is still a bit stiff legged but it's cute. She has a lot to say but we can't understand most of it. Her favorite word is Dad, yeah she's a Daddy's girl. She has a lot of personality coming through now that she's walking. She's quite the trouble maker. We can't leave anything on the floor or 3 foot from it.
I plan on updating this blog about once a week I will detail our trip we just took next probably. We will continue to add pictures to the photo gallery and I will e-mail when the updates are posted or extra good!
We decided when the baby comes we won't fit in our car anymore so we tried to find a 7-8 passenger not mini-van if possible vehicle and so we researched it online and decided we wanted a Saturn Outlook.
There is no Saturn Dealership in Idaho Falls so, we called a dealership in Boise and lo and behold they had exactly what we wanted. We got the loan quick and easy. We had the next day open and free , so when everything falls into place so amazingly well, why not get it? So we did!
Sorry for the delay in entries, but there really hasn't been much to say! I pretty much stay inside out of the below zero temperatures and get bored, day after day! Erith's school has been canceled twice due to cold temperatures. We have had some get togethers with friends that have broken up the monotony nicely. I have a cross stitch for the baby I should be finishing, a quilt that needs tied, and piles of scrapbooking I should be doing. But alas, January has sucked the motivation out of me. February please warm up my ambition! We are all doing fine and shouldn't complain so please don't give this blog too much credit!
Vi is trying to talk more. Adam is getting quite good at his piano playing. Erith is loving school and doing great. Tricity is doing Erith's homework again after she brings it home and learning a lot. I am reading Finding Peace, Happiness, and Joy by Richard G. Scott. I like it a lot, it's very good for my state of mind right now.
We hope you are all healthy and happy, have a great day!
Well I know it has been a while since these tournaments, but with us having a baby in the middle of everything, I just haven't been able to write about them. However, I do want to talk about them because we took 1st 3 out of the 4 tournaments with one of them being a perfect day where we won every match including against our toughest competitor Hillcrest.
As for our final stats over the season:
49 games won, 9 games lost (85% game win rate). 23 matches won, 8 matches lost, 1 tied match (74% match win rate).
April 19th
April 26th
May 3rd (We weren't supposed to play at this tournament, but they had an opening so we played (even though we didn't have our SETTER).
May 10th
Tricity has been wiggling her front teeth for almost a year now. She feels really bad that she's almost done with 1st grade and still hasn't lost a baby tooth yet.

I guess all the wiggling of solid teeth is worth it because she lost a tooth the beginning of March.

Then a couple days later Dad notices that new teeth are coming in and feels that the lose tooth next door better get the heck out of there or the new ones will be crooked. Too late, they are REALLY crooked anyway! Yay, 2 out of 2 need braces....
I know you've all been waiting months for me to finally post this, so here it is.

As you can see, we are no longer assaulted by 1972 when we walk through the bathroom doorway. The toilet is all one color and NO CARPET!

This may not look very different, but the medicine cabinet and mirror are tons bigger now. The cabinetry has no holes or broken runners. The sink is not baby blue and the vanity top is all one big piece, easier to clean and less caulking. I used to have 2 drawers, now I have six. I don't have anything in the bottom 2, it's wonderful!
The cabinetry is new and beautiful. I have several more shelves now to keep me organized. The tile is beautiful and not near as cold as I thought it would be.

Goodbye blue porcelain, hello jetted tub and cultured marble. I really like taking baths and showers now. We got a bent shower curtain bar and it is amazing how much more elbow room there is. The cultured marble is pretty, sturdy, and very easy to clean and I would recommend it to all who like how pretty tile is but don't have the patience to clean the grout.
Erith and Tricity have started school again. They are really enjoying it so far. They have lots of friends on their bus route, and it's the shortest amount of time they've ever had to ride.
Vi, Clara, and MOM really misses them while they're gone. Erith and Tricity help so much with the little ones. When I hear Clara screaming to get down from her highchair, my natural inclination is to say "Erith can you get Clara down from her chair?" But alas, I have to do it. And when it gets way to quiet I want to say "Tric can you see what Vi and Clara are doing?" But now, I find them, or just Clara covered in permanent marker plus my front entryway covered in permanent marker, just a few minutes too late. I should have taken a picture but I was too mad.
So, I am relearning to shut the bathroom doors all day long so I'm not cleaning up toilet water, and not leaving things on the kitchen table that a 16 month old can easily pull a chair up to and make a mess in. I am determined to buy some child proofing devices. My old rubber band-it-shut trick doesn't work on this trouble maker!
Vi has grown up enough that she's okay passing on the trouble maker mantle to Clara. Vi has bonded with a kitten this summer and they spend a lot of time together. The kitten just lets her pack her around, arms around the tummy, squishing her quite hard at times. I keep asking Vi what the kitten's name is and she always says "Baby Kitten."
Oh, and no, I don't let my kids outside in their pajamas...
